PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinel manganese oxide type positive electrode battery that has a long high-temperature life involving applicability to power storage or the like. SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery consists of a positive electrode of spinel manganese oxide represented by Li1+xMn2-x-yMeyO4 where Me represents Co or Cr, 0<=x<0.15 and 0<=y<0.4, a negative electrode adapted to absorb or release Li, and a nonaqueous electrolyte including lithium salt. The positive electrode consisting of the spinel manganese oxide, a binding agent and a conductive agent has a mix density of from 2.5 to 3.1 g/cm3. |
