PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the portable telephone set to easily create telephone directory data, to edit and store the data by transmitting telephone directory data created by a personal computer to the portable telephone set having an E-mail reception function and allowing the user of the portable telephone set to use the data for the telephone directory of the portable telephone set. SOLUTION: A personal computer 1 is used to create telephone directory data of a designated form and transmits an E-mail with the telephone directory data attached thereto to a portable telephone set 2 with an E-mail reception function via a mail server 3. The portable telephone set 2 uses the telephone directory data discriminated from contents of headers of the received E-mail such as Subjects for the telephone directory of its own set. Furthermore, the portable telephone set 2 converts the telephone directory data into a designated form and transmits an E-mail with the converted telephone directory attached thereto to the personal computer 1. The personal computer 1 receiving the E-mail edits and stores the telephone directory data. Thus, the creation, edition and storage of the telephone directory data of the portable telephone set 2 are much facilitated.
