PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize not only a handsfree call but also holding and automatic answering telephone when voice is emitted during an incoming call and to select the answering method of the incoming call (such as handset call, holding, automatic answering recording, a redialing request and transfer) by means of voice. SOLUTION: The telephone system is provided with a voice recognition circuit 20 recognizing at least three types of voices, and a control circuit 13 having the incoming call processing modes of a holding mode, a handsfree mode and an automatic answering mode, ringing a bell when a call signal is detected and selecting the incoming call processing mode to the voice recognized by the sound recognition circuit 20 in accordance with the type.
