PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the switching loss of a step-down type DC to DC converter. SOLUTION: A step-down type DC to DC converter is provided with a resonance reactor 10 interposed between one main terminal of a main switching element 2 and a smoothing reactor 4, a series circuit of first and second auxiliary rectifying devices 11, 12 for circulating currents connected between the junction of the main switching element 2 and the resonance reactor 10 and one end of a power source 1, a resonance capacitor 8 connected between the junction of the series circuit and the junction of the resonance reactor 10 and the smoothing reactor 4, a rectifying device 13 for a circulating current connected between the other main terminal of the main switching element 2 and the junction of the resonance reactor 10 and the smoothing reactor 4, and a control circuit which gives a main control pulse signal to the controlling terminal of the main switching element 2.
