PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of connection with an adhesive for end face connection for joining the end faces of an optical waveguide and an optical fiber. SOLUTION: The end face of the optical waveguide formed on a substrate 1 and the end face of the optical fiber 5 placed on an fiber fixing groove 4 formed on the substrate 1 by aligning its optical axis to the optical axis of the optical waveguide is fixed with a photosetting adhesive 7 and the optical fiber 5 is fixed with the thermosetting adhesive 8 to the fiber fixing groove 4. The end faces of the optical waveguide and the optical fiber 5 are joined with the photosetting adhesive 7 with good accuracy and the optical fiber 5 is securely fixed to the substrate, thereby, mechanical strength can be improved, and the good optical connection without the occurrence of an optical axis misalignment can be executed.
