<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the degree of freedom in the selection of respective materials for color filters and spacing holding columns, to improve strength to surface pressing by reducing the weights on a counter substrate side and further, to prevent the intrusion of impurities into liquid crystal compositions. SOLUTION: The spacing holding columns 111a and 111b and the color filters 115a and 115b are formed of different materials and the selection of the materials meeting their respective characteristics is possible. The spacing holding columns 111a and 111b are located on the side of array substrates 101a and 101b and since the weights of the counter substrates 112a and 112b are reduced, the strength to the surface pressing from the counter substrate side is high. Further, the surfaces of the color filters 115a and 115b are completely covered by counter electrodes 116a and 116b. The intrusion of impurities into the liquid crystal compositions 119a and 119b does not occur and the deterioration of the characteristics is prevented.</p> |
