PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery that is stable for high- temperature storage and is reliable for overcharges. SOLUTION: The nonaqueous secondary battery employs a positive electrode 1 and a negative electrode 2 both mainly comprising an active material into or from which lithium ions can be doped or undoped. The positive active material is lithium composite oxide given by a general formula, LixNiyCo1-yO2, wherein (x) is a charge/discharge-basis variable in the range of from 0 to 1.10 both exclusive and (y) is in the range of from 0.5 inclusive to 1.0 exclusive. In the positive active material, primary particles have an average particle size of from 1.5 to 15 μm, and primary and secondary particles exist to fulfill an expression, 0.8<=A/(A+B), wherein A and B indicate the respective numbers of primary and secondary particles. |
