PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the separation precision in an area separation processing. SOLUTION: An image processor 1 includes a reading part 3, an area separating part 4 and an image quality improving part 5. The reading part 3 reads a given original and generate image data which indicates the image to be processed. The area separating part 4 divides the image into plural blocks in order to process area separation, obtains the feature quantities of a frequency area and a real space area in each block, connects the two feature quantities and judges to which one of plural characteristic areas being mutually different in characteristic at least one partial element in the block belongs based on a connection feature quantity which is obtained as the result of connection. The image quality improving part 5 executes an image quality improvement processing corresponding to the characteristic area where the one part belongs to as against a part corresponding to at least one part in each block. As a result, the separation precision in the area separation processing is improved so that the image quality after the processing is improved. |
