PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method capable of detecting a disconnection regardless of the rotational angle by applying a DC bias current to an output winding and outputting a disconnection detection signal having a voltage level higher than the maximum voltage level of a rotational angle signal from a differential amplifier when the output winding is disconnected. SOLUTION: When an output winding 3 is not disconnected but normal, a rotational angle signal sinθ.f(t) or cosθ.f(t) is outputted from an output terminal 8c through a differential amplifier 10. When the output winding 3 is disconnected, a DC bias current IB does not flow into the output winding 3 and a sixth resistor RBL. At the same time, a DC power supply 11 is applied to the differential amplifier 10 through buffer circuits 6, 7 and a disconnection detection signal 20 is outputted in place of the rotational angle signal. The disconnection detection signal 20 has a voltage value higher than that of the rotational angle signal sinθ.f(t) or cosθ.f(t) and disconnection can be detected by monitoring the voltage level thereof by means of a window comparator, or the like.
