PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly detect an abnormality of distance measurement due to rain drop and stain without being affected by the degree of contrast of an object in the view field. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a photographing means 52 and an operation means 530 for operating the distance to a distance measurement object using a triangulation principle. The operation means 530 has a relative value calculation part 660A for making combination of window image data partly set in the view field in optical sensor arrays 63 and 64 shifting the window positions in turn for the number of shift positions and calculating the relative value between image data for each combination, an image data coincidence judgment part 660B for judging the coincidence of both image data from the change of the relative value near the maximum relative point, a contrast judgment part 660C for obtaining the contrast value of both image data in the case the maximum relative value is calculated, and a distance measurement abnormality judgment part 54 for judging the distance measurement abnormality based on the judgment results of each judgment part 660B and 660C for a plurality of distance measuring points.
