摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the temperature of a lamp unit, which uses a super high pressure mercury vapor lamp, without increasing the size of a projector and to obtain a high power light source device having a simple constitution by providing heat radiating sections in the back of the concave section of a reflection mirror. SOLUTION: A super high pressure mercury vapor lamp is arranged at the center of an optical axis inside a reflection mirror 1. Heat inputting sections located at the tips of heat pipes 3A to 3D are engaged to a flange which is provided at the opening section of the mirror 1. The pipes 3A to 3D are provided with heat radiating sections having heat radiating fins 4A to 4D that are located at the opposite sides of the heat inputting sections. The pipes 3A to 3D are approximately arranged along the direction of the optical axis and the fins 4A to 4D are located in the external space back of the concave section of the mirror 1. Heat is transmitted from the heat inputting sections of the pipes 3A to 3D to the heat radiating sections through the internal sections of the pipes 3A to 3D and radiated to the external space of the lamp unit from the fins 4A to 4D.
