PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a data processing system while maintaining its reliability by providing plural host devices which execute the different functions and which are placed at least in every unit, and plural terminals which access the host devices executing the functions for the data processing in response to these functions. SOLUTION: A commodity price retrieval (PLU) function, an employee retrieval function and a totalization function are primarily executed between a terminal and a controller serving as the host device of the terminal. In other words, the PLU controllers C11-C14 are prepared to execute the PLU function together with the employee controllers C21 and C22 which execute the employee retrieval function and a totalization controller C31 which executes the totalization function respectively. Thus, the controllers are prepared for every function in this POS system. Then the terminals T1-T12 change controllers to access for every function and access the controllers which execute each function. |
