PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical humidifier wherein an effective sterilization function can be imparted to water tanks with a variety of capacities. SOLUTION: A humidifier is provided with a laterally-elongated water tank 1 and a group of ultraviolet generators 12, 12 with waterproofness provided underwater in the water tank 1. The ultraviolet generators 12, 12 are supported on a face 13 extending in a lengthwise direction of the water tank 1 by arranging them in the lengthwise direction, so as to permit the sterilization effect generated by ultraviolet rays to prevail in the entirety of water 1a in the water tank 1.
