A cable cutting tool (10) with high hardness insert blades (52, 54) inserted between pivotably mounted levers (42, 44). The levers (42, 44) are pivotably mounted to hand-grippable handles (12, 14). The levers have jaws with a gap formed between inner facing surfaces thereof. The gap provides space for insertion of the insert blades.
