The telephone (1) has an information display (2) and a retainer of a portable data carrier (3), as well as a device for writing on the data carrier inserted in the retainer. Preferably the writing device writes on a magnetic card, magnetic strip card, memory card, or magnetic tape cassette as data carrier. The writing device may be a thermoprinter with a paper supply. It may have an associated coder and a memory and a microprocessor for control, monitoring and programming via a keyboard (7).
