The invention relates to a method and device for packing gathered sausage casings. According to the inventive method, gathered sausage casings (W) are packed in a tubular net (5). To this end, the sausage casing (W) is inserted into the tubular net (5). Afterwards, the net (5) is welded in front of and behind the sausage casing (W) so that the sausage casing (W) is completed enclosed by the net. The welding is effected using an ultrasonic welding method. The packaging nets welded by using ultrasound are, in the area of the welding point in front of and behind the sausage casing, substantially more resistant to tearing than packagings which are welded using prior art methods. In a special embodiment, one end of the net-shaped packaging is welded while forming a loop.
