Detergent tablets with improved mechanical stability and reduced disintegration periods enabling them to be integrated into the wash cycle from the detergent compartment in household washing machines. The inventive tablets can be obtained by pressing a pre-mixture that contains more than 10 wt. % surfactants to form detergent tablets that have a rectangular base surface.
