PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an operating sound in a hot water supply stop state while maintaining a stabilizing function of hot water temperature. SOLUTION: The water heater comprises a valve mechanism 13 for regulating a mixing ratio of a supplied hot water W2 from a heat exchanger 1 with a mixed water W3 from a bypass water passage 4, and a control means 17 for regulating the mechanism 13 according to a temperature change of stayed water in the exchanger 1. The means 17 controls to deal reheating to regulate the mechanism 13 according to a temperature change of the stayed water in the exchanger 1 after hot water supply is stopped when a time Ta from start of hot water to stop of the hot water is shorter than a predetermined hot water supply threshold value Tx.
