The arcing detection device uses a current sensor (14) detecting the current in an AC power line (16), coupled to a CPU (20), providing a correlation function for arc detection, via an A/D converter (18), with a summator (28) combining the output signal from the current sensor with an output signal from the central processor to provide an output which is fed to an input of the central processor, e.g. via a second A/D converter (30).
