<p>A system for obtaining and processing information for creating a document. A data packet is transmitted to a remote terminal (31), the data packet including information to generate a user interface (310), and to enable a user to input document information. The document information specifies an arrangement of components for creating a document, the components including at least two of: a printed page (432), a tab page (433), a front cover (431), a back cover (436), and a binding (316-318). The document information is then evaluated by utilizing stored properties for the components to determine whether it is physically possible to create a document according to the document information. Also, the document information can be routed to one of plural document production locations (71-73) based on geographical distance from a specified location and based on capability to produce the document.</p> |
