The amplifier contains a signal input (30) for low frequency input voltage, an inverting operational amplifier, and a switching circuit (34) with a comparator input. A low pass circuit is coupled to earth, and a first order AC low pass filter is incorporated between the switching output and the amplifier inverting input via a negative feedback resistor, with a capacitor coupled to earth. The operational amplifier is connected as an inverting integrator (32). The switching circuit is formed as a circuit with an absolute comparator input, and its output is fed back to its input via a resistor (40), and via a second resistor (41) to the integrator input in a negative feedback arrangement. The integrator output is linked to the switch input via a third resistor (33).
