The actuator includes an actuator drive for producing an operating force on a body. An assistance spring force generator produces an auxiliary force on the body when the body is operated. A biasing device varies the biasing state of the assistance spring force generator before the operating force is produced by the actuator drive. A method of producing an operating force using an actuator is also claimed.
