<p>A reproduction film having stable reproduction characteristics at all times can be made. A master negative film on which data is recorded is used for transferring data onto a reproduction film by exposing at a predetermined print exposure the master negative film. While making such a master negative film, a read pattern composed of alternated exposed and non-exposed regions having a predetermined shape and guard bands between the exposed and non-exposed regions is recorded on the master negative film and used for controlling the timing when data transferred onto the reproduction film. The width of the guard bands is controlled according to the print exposure, so that the level of the signal obtained from the non-exposed regions of the read pattern transferred onto the reproduction film is maintained at a fixed relative value relative to the level of the signal obtained from the data portion transferred onto the reproduction film.</p> |
