An anti-theft device (10) for trailers, comprises a motion sensor, an alarm interfaced with the motion sensor, a power storage means for storing and supplying power to the alarm and the motion sensor, an array of solar cells (20) adapted to recharge the power storage means and a casing (12) having an outer surface. The alarm, the motion sensor and the power storage means are fully contained within the casing (12) and the array of solar cells (20) is mounted on the outer surface thereof, by way of a mounting means having a skirting (26) adapted to protect the junction of the solar cells (20) and the casing (12). In the event of an attempted theft of the trailer or the contents thereof, the motion sensor is triggered and the alarm activated, thereby deterring a would-be thief. |
