The invention relates to a method for adjusting the transmission ratio in a continuous variable transmission that is provided with a variator. According to the invention, a minimal pressure force p1,min and/or p2,min is continuously calculated for the two variator discs on the basis of the relevant transmission and the relevant torque to be transmitted in order to press the continuous variable element. The primary and secondary discs are determined as controlled variable to be used for the variator transmission according to the calculated minimal pressure force, whereby the controlled variable is determined by comparing the necessary pressure values p1,soll or p2,soll to the calculated minimal pressure force values in such a way that if p1,soll </= p1,min the controlled variable changes from the primary side to the secondary side and if the condition p2,soll </= p2,min is fulfilled, the secondary side changes to the primary side, whereby the primary side is the controlled variable at the beginning of the procedure. |
