Brake operating unit for automatic braking of motor vehicle

The automatic braking is performed so that the wheel-cylinder oil pressure is increased with the predetermined boosting gradient in early stages of automatic braking, and reduced with predetermined pressure-reduction gradient in the latter stages of automatic braking. A braking necessity decision circuit judges if automatic braking is required based on detection of an obstruction. Based on the decision result, an automatic-braking device controls the wheel-cylinder oil pressure of a vehicle and performs automatic braking. An oil-pressure sensor (8) detects the damping condition of the automatic-braking device by detecting the wheel-cylinder oil pressure.
