The guide device has a yoke holding the rotatable guide roller (16) and comprising a sheet metal part (10) whose side arms (11) are connected by a trough (17) which grips under the roller (16) with certain play. The bearing axle (15) is mounted in flexible bearings (20) inserted in the sockets (12) of the guide arms so that under load the roller moves to adjoin the trough. The trough is a constituent part of the sheet metal blank used to make the sheet metal part or can be a separate component attached to the bending area of the side arms of same. The trough can be made of plastics.
