The light-alloy or steel printing roll or the printing roll sleeve made of glass or carbon fiber reinforced plastic or nickel is provided with a seamless coating of polyurethane with a thickness of at least 3 mm, a Shore (A) hardness between 30 deg and 60 deg , and an endless (positive or negative) printing pattern produced on its surface by laser engraving. An Independent claim is also included for an application of such a roll or roll sleeve for flexographic printing.
