The present invention relates to a new use of epinastine in the form of its enantiomers, a mixture of enantiomers or as a racemate epinastine for the preparation of a medicament with antitussive activity or for the preparation of a medicament with an enhancement of the antitussive effects of antitussiva known from the state of the art - in particular of centrally acting antitussiva of the codeine or dihydrocodeine type.
