<p>A process for fragmenting blast furnace slag comprises casting the molten slag in superposed layers each about two inches thick, each layer being cooled without water before the next layer is cast, and finally breaking up the cast bed of slag by a bulldozing operation. The breaking up is carried out by a caterpillar tractor with a rear scarifier and a bulldozer blade which can work the slag bed to a depth of 24 inches in one operation.
