<p>A boreside feed gas separation membrane device (1) containing primarily hollow fiber membranes (3) with discrete flow channels (4) incorporated into the bundle (3) to allow for pressure removal of the permeate gas collected on the shellside of the device (1) is described. The flow channels (4) minimize pressure drop and/or the build-up of back pressure on the shellside of the device (1) while maintaining proper counter-current flow patterns in the device (1). The incorporation of flow channels (4) results in improved efficiency of the device (1), especially for feed streams or membrane types that lead to high permeate flow rate that result in excessive shellside pressure drops.</p> |
