A method for terminating bleeding from a portion of a bone (10), which portion has been opened so as to be subject to bleeding, including the steps of extending a covering (12) over the opened portion (14) of the bone (10), and fixing the covering (12) to the bone (10) such that the covering (12) is in snug engagement with the opened portion (14) of the bone (10) so as to terminate bleeding from the bone (10).
