Apparatus and process for welding plastics parts

The welding equipment (1) has a clamp (3), a component heater, an electronic control unit (4) and a temperature sensor (5) for recording the surrounding temperature. The sensor is mounted on the opposite side of the equipment from the heater and is insulated from the equipment. An Independent claim is also made for a welding process in which the electronic unit(4) continuously monitors the temperature from the sensor and determines the component cooling time. Heating of parts to be welded can be either by contact or non-contact methods.
