PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat back for an automobile for preventing the upper end part of a supporting means from being exposed even when a rear side load from a passenger is applied to a pressure receiving member or a headrest holder is moved up to an upper side from a facing member. SOLUTION: This seat back is constituted of a seat back frame 2, the supporting means 8 supported at the upper end part of the seat back frame 2 so as to be freely rotatable back and forth and freely movable up and down, the headrest holder 14 disposed at the upper end part 8b of the supporting means 8, a headrest supported through the headrest holder 14, the pressure receiving member supported at the lower end part of the supporting means 8 capable of receiving the pressure of the back of the passenger and the facing member 41 provided with a through-hole 41a for freely retracting the headrest holder 14 for covering the seat back frame 2. Then, to the through-hole 41a of the facing member 41 between the upper and lower parts of the flange-shaped head part 14c of the headrest holder 14 and the seat back frame 2, a cover member 33 in a hollow columnar shape for being energized upwards at all times and covering the headrest holder 14 is arranged.
