THERMALLY RESTORABLE ARTICLE PREPARED FROM IONOMER AND LINEAR POLYOLEFIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally restorable article which has both a high shrinkage factor and an excellent fitting to a substrate, hardly exhibits slippage in its use, and hardly causes cracks even when used at high temps. SOLUTION: This article is prepd. mainly from a resin compsn. prepd. by mixing (a) 10-60 pts.wt. ionomer resin and (b) 40-90 pts.wt. linear polyolefin and has an adhesive compsn. layer formed therein. The adhesive compsn. layer contains (A) a terpolymer of a carboxyl-contg. monomer (M1) or an acid anhydride-contg. monomer (M3), a polarα-olefin (M2), and a nonpolarα-olefin (M4), (B) a copolymer of ethylene and a nonpolarα-olefin (M4) or a copolymer of a polarα-olefin (M2) and 20 wt.% or lower nonpolarα-olefin (M4), and (C) a polyamide. This article is esp. useful in the fields of thermally shrinkable tubes, etc., used for the joints, terminal treatment, etc., of electric cables.
