PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the operation mode of an air bag when an occupant is a child by varying the operation mode according to the operating states of an occupant sensor and a tension switch. SOLUTION: The input signals from a weight sensor, a tension switch and a buckle switch are imparted to an occupant state judgment part to perform a processing by the internal weight judgment part, chatter prevention part, occupant state judgment part and failure judgment part thereof. An output of an emergency state detection device and the output of the occupant state judgment part are inputted to an AND circuit, and when both the signals are ON, the inflator of an air bag is operated to perform an ignition. The load added to a seat is influenced also by the tension of a seat belt. Accordingly, the threshold for judgment of adult or child is preferably determined, considering this influence. It can be surely detected that the occupant is a child, and the operation mode can be changed. |
