PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new bacterium capable of cleaning up polluted environment, belonging to specific species of the genus Acinetobacter and having high biodegradability to mineral ingredients of a metal working lubricant under freshwater conditions. SOLUTION: This new bacterium belongs to a specific species of the genus Acinetobacter, e.g. species to which bacterial strain of Acinetobacter sp. Al-2 (FERM BP-6537) belongs and has high biodegradability to mineral ingredients of metal working lubricants such as lubrication oil under freshwater. Furthermore, it is preferable that the bacterium has an ability to degrade >=90% mineral ingredients of a metal working lubricant when the bacterium is cultured at 30 deg.C for 3 days in a culture medium containing 1 (v/v)% of the metal working lubricant and a mineral ingredient is biodegraded by bringing the bacterium into contact with any of mineral ingredients constituting the metal working lubricant under freshwater and aerobic conditions.
