PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a raw material for cosmetics capable of formulating collagen into cosmetic in a state having thermal denaturation temperature and useful for cosmetic such as skin lotion by including dispersion of collagen association obtained by controlling an aqueous solution of collagen whose isoelectric point is a specific pH at pH in the vicinity of the isoelectric point. SOLUTION: This collagen comprises dispersion of collagen association obtained by controlling an aqueous solution of collagen having a prescribed isoelectric point between pH 5.5 and pH 7.5 at pH in the vicinity of the above isoelectric point. This cosmetic raw material is prepared by chemically modifying a collagen obtained by solubilizing insoluble collagen fiber obtained from adult cow skin, etc., by a method, etc., solubilizing with an enzyme when final pH of the target cosmetic is 7.0 by alkali treatment, etc., so that the isoelectric point becomes 7.0, controlling the chemically modified collagen so as to control the pH to about 7.0 to provide a collagen association and uniformly re-dispersing the collagen association by using a homogenizer, etc.
