PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bait agent which shows high feeding activity on insect pests and can effectively exterminates insect pests, e.g. a cockroach and the like, by giving a specific preparation strength. SOLUTION: The bait agent is obtained by giving a preparation strength of 0.5-7 kgf. As the state of the bait agent, a gel or gummy state is favorable and the gummy state is more favorable. The preparation strength is the maximum strength shown by a degital force gage during the pressing when the bait agent is pressed by a jig installed on the tip of the degital force gage at a rate of 50 mm/min to crush the bait agent until the crevice between the base and the jig becomes 3 mm. This bait agent is preferably put as it is or under storing in a vessel in the region where cockroches or the like inhabit or act.
