PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe column driver for construction capable of driving a column while a worker is below the column driver. SOLUTION: In this column driver for construction in which a locking body 4 to be locked to a top surface of a column 2 or an upper surface of a sill girder 3 is provided on an upper end part of a tubular guide body 1, a driving weight is provided on the guide body 1 slidably along the guide body 1, a stopper body to support the driving weight 5 to form a slide lower limit is provided on a lower end part of the guide body 1, and a string 8 stretched between the upper end part and the lower end part of the guide body 1 is provided in the guide body 1, a hard member 7 of a specified length to suppress the unlocking of the locking body 4 from the top surface of the column 2 or the upper surface of the sill girder 3 caused by the breakage of the locking body 4 from the guide body 1 when a continuous part of the guide body 1 to the locking body 4 is broken, is internally or externally fitted along the guide body 1, at the continuous part or in the vicinity of the continuous part of the guide 1 and the locking body 4.
