PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod-like body joining method using high frequency induction heating capable of dispensing with a water-cooled cooling device for cooling a heating coil causing increase in size of a device, enlarging the working range and easily exchanging a mold. SOLUTION: In a rod-like body joining method, a pair of two heat-resistant semi-cylindrical molds 5, 5 are covered over a part to be butted of rod-like bodies 3, 3, a semi-cylindrical copper plate 6 is embedded in a heat-resistant body 7a, an alternating flux generating part 7 to constitute a pair of high frequency induction heating devices is closely attached to the molds 5, 5 the copper plate 6 is energized, the rod-like bodies 3 are pressed against each other after the butted part of the rod-like bodies 3, 3 is melted, and after the cooling the molds 5, 5 and the alternating flux generating part 7 are detached. A multiple stranded wire having a plurality of stranded wire layers lapped and twisted is used for a secondary cable 8 of the high frequency induction heating device. A plurality of the alternating flux generating parts 7 are connected to the secondary cable 8.
