PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To join works more efficiently and in a more full-automatic manner than conventionally and make effective use of a material to save a material cost by deciding a position where the longitudinal end face parts of specific works conveyed one after another come into contact with each other at a specified spot and joining the contact parts. SOLUTION: A work A is supplied to a conveyance device from a work supply part 2. The conveyance device is equipped with a chain conveyor with a conveying truck having a dog which protrudes from a groove part 32a provided on a conveying table 32 along a conveyance path for the work W. When the longitudinal front end face part of a work W conveyed immediately following the preceding work W conveyed comes into contact with the longitudinal rear end face part of the preceding work W, the dog receives pressure to cause the chain conveyor to stop and thus the contact position is determined. Next the contact parts of the two works W whose positions are determined are joined by a nail driving device 4. Thus the joining work is automated and at the same time, the end materials are used in an effective manner to save a material cost.
