EXHAUST GAS MUFFLER AND MANUFACTURE OF ITS INTERMEDIATE WALL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the buffer action of an exhaust gas muffler and reduce its manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: An intermediate wall 5 is inserted in a muffler casing 2 so as to be supported by the bottom 13 of a shell part 3 and divides the inner space of the silencer casing 2. An exhaust gas can be overflowed by communicating the divided space of the casing fluidly by both sides of the intermediate wall 5. A buffer element is formed so as to provide the space inside the intermediate wall 5 as an exhaust gas injection part 6. This space is partitioned by the wall part 30 with holes facing to the wall surface of the intermediate wall 5. The free edge of the wall part 30 with holes partitions the inlet cross section 27 of the exhaust gas injection part 6. The inlet cross section 27 is overlapped with the inlet 16 of the muffler casing 2.
