<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a adsorbent which has high adsorbing power of hydrocarbon and enough heat resistance, maintains the adsorbing power even after being exposed to high temperatures, and is capable of decomposing an adsorbed hydrocarbon into a lower hydrocarbon and a method for removing a hydrocarbon by adsorption in a gas phase by using the adsorbent. SOLUTION: A hydrocarbon adsorbing agent, in which calcinatedβ-zeolite in which the sum of the lattice surface interval of X-ray powder diffraction d=1.15±0.03 nm and X-ray diffraction strength 0.397±0.01 nm is at least 90% of diffraction strength d=0.0346±0.01 nm of Catalyst Society reference catalyst JRC-Z-HM-20 (3) is added with phosphorus, is obtained. The agent is contacted with a gas phase, and hydrocarbon in the gas phase is adsorbed/removed.</p> |
