PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an artificial marble capable of developing high resistance to mechanical impact and thermal shock by mixing a resin component with a filler and a fibrous additive. SOLUTION: This artificial marble is obtained by mixing an artificial marble comprising (A) a resin component composed of a thermosetting resin (e.g. polyester-based resin, acrylic resin, vinyl ester-based resin, etc.), and (B) a filler component (e.g. aluminum hydroxide, calcium carbonate, silica, etc.), as main components with (C) an organic fiber having >=5% elongation as an fibrous additive (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol-based fiber, nylon fiber, etc.). Preferably the amount of the component B mixed is 180-300 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A. Preferably the amount of the component C mixed is 0.3-20 wt.% based on the total amount of the resin composition. Preferably 1-10 wt.% based on the total amount of the resin composition of an inorganic fiber (e.g. glass fiber, etc.), as a reinforcing agent besides the organic fiber as the component C is added to the artificial marble. |
