PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition excellent in dispersion stability and film formability, capable of affording coating films of high weatherability, staining resistance and water resistance, and useful in coating operations or the like by including an aqueous dispersion incorporated with a specific fluorocopolymer and an inorganic silicon compound and/or organosilicon compound in specified proportions. SOLUTION: This coating composition consists of an aqueous dispersion which is obtained by incorporating 0.1-100 pts.wt., on a solid basis, of an inorganic silicon compound and/or organosilicon compound such as lithium silicate in 100 pts.wt., on a solid basis, of a fluorocopolymer composed of (A) pref. 20-80 mol% of polymerizable unit based on a fluoroolefin, (B) pref. 2-70 mol% of polymerizable unit based on propylene, and (C) pref. 5-10 mol% of polymerizable unit based on ethylene and/or (D) pref. 5-70 mol% of polymerizable unit based on butylene, and preferably, furthermore (E) polymerizable unit based on a vinyl ester or the like.
