The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1119679/C4-C5/1> where X is H and Y is -Z-Ar-[SO2-N(A)B]n or X is -Z-Ar-[SO2N(A)B]n and Y is OH, Ar is an aromatic hydrocarbon which may contain other substituents, A is H or hydroxyalkyl, B is H, alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms or hydroxyalkyl, Z is oxygen or sulphur, and n is 1 or 2. The compounds are prepared by reacting comounds of the formulae <FORM:1119679/C4-C5/2> and <FORM:1119679/C4-C5/3> with chlorosulphonic acid or with sulphuric acid or oleum and a halogenating agent to form the sulphonyl chloride which is then reacted with a compound of the formula A-NH-B. |
