PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for purification of exhaust gas which contains a HC adsorbent which has excellent adsorption efficiency for cold HC and hardly desorbs the adsorbed HC, and with which purification with good balance in HC, CO and NOx can be carried out in a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, and to provide a producing method of the catalyst. SOLUTION: This catalyst is a monolithic catalyst having layers which carry the catalyst components. The catalyst consists of a first later essentially comprised of zeolite and containing at least one kind selected from among palladium, rhodium and platinum and at least one kind selected from among cerium, zirconium and lanthanum, and a second layer containing at least one kind selected from among palladium, rhodium and platinum formed on the first layer. |
