PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide aldose reductase inhibitor free from troubles such as tachyphylaxis or various side effects or the like observed in the case of medicines synthesized in conventional chemical process. SOLUTION: The aldose reductase inhibitor is obtained by utilizing the ingredient originating from plants belonging to Vitex rotundifolia, as the principal ingredient. The aldose reductase inhibitor has excellent effects on aldose reductase inhibition and is effective for prevention and therapy for diabetic complication such as diabetic cataract, renal insufficiency, nervous lesion, arteriosclerosis or the like. |
