PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-chromium type coating capable of forming a film excellent in corrosion-resistance, workability, adhesiveness, boiling water resistance, acid resistance, etc., which is esp. suitable for undercoat. SOLUTION: This coating compsn. is a coating comprising (A) 5-90 pts.wt. of a hydroxyl group-contg. polyester resin, (B) 5-70 pts.wt. of a novolak type epoxy resin, (C) 5-40 pts.wt. of at least one type of hardening agent selected from the group consisting of an amino resin and a block polyisocyanate compd., and (D) 8-130 pts.wt., based on 100 pts.wt. of the total of (A)-(C), of minute silica particles having an oil absorption in the range of 30-200 ml/100 g and a pore vol. in the range of 0.05-1.2 ml/g. The glass transition temp. of the cured film formed from the coating is in the range of 40-125 deg.C. A coated metal plate is prepd. by forming a film of the above-described coating compsn. on a metal plate which may chemically be treated. |
